Project Overview:

My client did not like many of the classic architectural features in this living room including moldings, beams, trims, built-in bookcases and the ornate fireplace which made it feel more formal and traditional than he wanted.

We replaced the ornate fireplace surround with neutral ledger stones spanning the height of the room and added custom pleated draperies with a neutral embroidered geometric pattern to accentuate the high ceilings. We painted the cabinets a deep blue hue with gray undertones and replaced the dark built-in bookshelves above them with a grass cloth wall covering in a neutral warm gray. Modern floating shelves and a coordinating mantle gave this space a more casual feel.

The client’s living room was transformed into a transitional space in a calming neutral palette with muted blue-green accents which blends traditional elegance with modern simplicity, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere.
