Living in Copper Tones

My client had been in her townhome for 17 years and was in dire need of a home makeover. She wanted her home to reflect her personality and love for travel. She also knew she wanted the more significant elements in the main living spaces to be neutral enough to stand the test of time with bursts of color in the accent items. A color personality test revealed an alchemy color palette was best suited for her.

Project Overview:

We decided on copper as the accent color to evoke feelings of warmth, comfort, stability, and a sense of grounding. These feelings of approachability and comfort, however, are perfectly balanced with its vibrant, metallic quality which spark creativity and excitement. We converted the client’s photography of her favorite European travels into both metal wall art and framed prints. While relaxing in her living space she reflects on her past travels with fond memories and dreams of her future adventures abroad.

My client enjoys entertaining so multi-functional furniture and flexible seating was important. The oversized glass cocktail table often becomes the entertainment spot for informal gatherings of friends as they enjoy wine, share stories and play card games. The upholstered ottomans in the croc leather, typically stored under the marble console table, become flexible seating around the cocktail table with ease.

The mixed materials, finishes and textures coupled with the alchemy elements dominate the space, creating a laid-back yet sophisticated atmosphere which both reflects my client’s personality and tells her personal story.
