Neutral Family Room
From a sagging sofa to tears of joy.
It was clear that they wanted to keep a neutral family room but were worried it would be boring. In chatting with the wife it turned out she wasn’t crazy about the fireplace and said it had no importance in the room. The family had recently remodeled their kitchen but didn’t want to entertain until the family room was updated because it was open to the new kitchen.
They fell in love with the bird print of the custom window treatments right off the bat and we worked from there. We selected a classic sofa and loveseat in sturdy fabric, and opted for a bound rug with a thick pad for lying on the floor. A lot of attention was paid to the fireplace which was built up with moldings and painted white, while the hearth and surround were finished out with new granite. Adding the stunning mirrors and console tables put more focus on the fireplace. Two ottomans were selected as additional seating.
Overall, the room is neutral other than a few pillows and accessories that can be changed out at any time. The family is happy to be entertaining again and show off their new room at every opportunity. Tears on the reveal day reinforced her many texts saying how she loves her room.
